Carol's Back!

After spending two weeks in Europe, Carol is back with lots of good memories. She spent a few days in Paris before boarding a river cruise to see the tulips in Holland. The Uniworld River Cruise was fabulous - the staff spoke fluent English (a definite plus), the food was delicious and the decor was very elegant. Just a word of advice - the engine is in the front of the boat so rooms in the front are loud almost all the time. The weather was chilly - even though it doesn't look it in these pictures...it was about 40 degrees. However, the cold did do wonders for the flowers and there were plenty of them, in the Gardens, in flower boxes in front of stores, virtually everywhere!

It was the Floriade that led Carol to do to this trip but it was Keukenhof Garden that she fell in love with. Carol explained, "Floriade, even though occurs once every decade, is much like a state fair full of flowers...however the Keukenhof Garden is like Canada's Butchart Garden." Check out some of her pictures below...

Carol and Lua at LAX...take off your shoes, belt, etc...security check is still the same old, same old drill at LAX. However, in Europe, taking off your shoes was not a requirement.

Carol was in Paris on Palm Friday - can you make out the parade of people going by with their palm fronds?

That's what Europe looks like - but it was cold. You couldn't tell, could you?

A day at the Palace of Versailles

The River Duchess - transportation for the next week!

Carol thought to include these beautiful outdoor patios as part of her memories of Europe - just one note though, there's no one sitting outdoors. Why? Because it's too cold!! "...And especially too cold for us Southern Californians," said Carol.

The Garden Car?

This picture was captured because it sure looks like a postcard...without that man's back of course! There were bicycles everywhere and flower boxes adored almost every window around town!

Flowers at Floriade

But this was the grandeur of Keukenhof Garden...it rained a few days before they were there so the flowers were in bloom. When they left to come home, it was excepted to rain again.
